Bob was the founding partner and is now Chairman Emeritus of Gunderson Dettmer, a leading international law firm representing emerging growth companies and venture-capital and growth equity investors.  Bob represented parties to many of the most significant emerging-growth and venture capital transactions (financings, IPOs, M&A and fund formations) over the last four decades.

Bob has written and spoken extensively on various legal topics and is co-editor of Venture Capital and Public Offering Negotiation, the leading treatise in its field. Bob has served as a director of numerous public companies. He is a Fellow of the American College of Governance Counsel and the American Bar Foundation.

Bob earned a JD from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was Executive Editor of The University of Chicago Law Review, as well as an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and an MA from Stanford University.
